Glass Half Full

I found a great competition from 'Positive Poster 2010' based on 'Glass half full . . . or empty', however I only have a day to produce something, but we all know a day is a long time for a designer . . . !

Well I got cracking, gave myself some rules,
- Use of only one colour
- Type and Image based
- Gives positive vibe

Ok so keeping that in mind, I produced a few ideas and developed a few on into resolutions. These are the first resolutions and even though they are very simple and clear, i'm not sure they are quite right for this competition.

I then looked at the actually phrase 'A glass half full' and from that have very simply illustrated it into what i think is an effective piece. Lets hope they like it.

Sovio Wine Label competition extension

Before going away I entered the Sovio Wine label competition with two designs and when I got back I found they had extended the deadline so I have designed another label to be entered as there is no limit to the number of designs per participant. The deadline is 31st August so not long now, so i have my fingers crossed.

They have a gallery of all the submissions so far so have a look on Sovio

final label resolutions

first label development

Ok, so these are the drawings that i have started out with, I'm aiming for a new modern and fresh look to the labels but i dont want something corporate looking. there are so many gorgeous label design out there so i want this to fit in with a fresh look but needs to stand out on its own as a 'lighter wine'

Iv stayed with the hand drawn designs as im a real fan of this and think it can give this brand a uplift to their range.

This is where i have started adding colour to the grape shapes, but i wanted something more than just block colour so i added textures to the grape shapes so that they will be more of a centre point to the label.

The brief stated that they wanted a range for white wine and red wine so these are the ranges that I have come up with from the design. The hand drawn grape swirls are added over the top of the textures and makes this beautiful design.

My sister introduced me to this competition and thought I would have a go at it, now that we have finished for summer I really want to start getting to express my style and find out ways in which I can work and most importantly I need to expand of my software skills.

There is no limit of entries to this competition so I'm going to try and come up with a few different designs and you never know, I could be going to San Francisco.
